Remembering Andrew Roy Zeikle

June 14, 1987 - June 1, 2007

The AZ3on3 tournament was thought up by a close friend as the perfect way to remember and honor a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle and friend to so many. Basketball was Andrew's number one passion-- he was built for it.

Growing up in small town Polo, Missouri, Andrew began playing around the age of 4. He was almost instantly better than his two older sisters (and not long after, his Dad!) and was a natural ball handler. He couldnt have been more thrilled when a younger brother came along, providing a future of endless one-on-one challenges and was lucky enough to always have Mom- always up for a game of PIG!

He quickly learned the infamous dribble between your legs and could hardly wait til he was tall enough to dunk! In fact, there were many occasions which prompted the use of the mini trampoline under the basket; Andrew jumping and stretching every muscle to its limits in hopes of reaching the rim. He also developed the habit of sticking out his tongue when shooting, thanks to watching countless hours of his hero, Michael Jordan.

Andrew played diligently all through school, constantly challenging himself to be better. He never missed a practice, and spent many additional hours shooting hoops at home with his family and friends. He was very much a team player and quickly matured into a very skilled competitor. (And it didnt hurt that he instantaneously sprouted to 6' plus upon reaching high school!)

Andrew thoroughly enjoyed every moment of life, on and off the court, but it was no secret how much he loved his basketball. With his witty sense of humor and goofy, outgoing personality, Andrew was always surrounded by friends and was easily the center of attention. He was loved and adored by so many people, who now miss him dearly.

The tournament is a wonderful way to remember Andrew- his legacy and his passion. He would be SO proud, and Im sure, as he watches down from Heaven, only regrets that he cant star in HIS tournament.

Thank you all for your support and help in making this event a success now and for many years to come.
